Have a child who is curious about hockey? Try Hockey Free is the perfect opportunity to step onto the ice, learn the basics, and experience the fun of hockey in a welcoming, low-pressure environment.
Hosted by Inver Grove Heights Hockey Association, this free event is designed for first-time players and beginners who want to see what hockey is all about before committing to a program. Our coaches and volunteers will help participants learn basic skating and hockey skills while having fun on the ice.
Whether your child has never skated before or is ready to try hockey for the first time, everyone is welcome!

What to Expect
Participants will:
- Meet local coaches and players
- Learn basic skating and hockey skills
- Participate in fun on-ice activities and games
- Experience the excitement of youth hockey in a supportive setting
- Learn about Inver Grove Heights Hockey programs and next steps
No previous hockey experience is required.
Equipment Information
Equipment may be available to borrow. Participants should:
- Dress warmly in comfortable athletic clothing
- Wear gloves or mittens
- Bring a hockey helmet if available
- Arrive early to allow time for equipment fitting
To help make hockey accessible to every family, skates, helmets, gloves, and other hockey equipment will be available and provided for use during the Try Hockey Free event at no cost.
